Whether stainless steel sanitary fittings or stainless steel pressed collars, Swiss Fittings is your international partner when it comes to the supply of fluid technology components. We carry a large stock of butt weld fittings and can also deliver directly from production (made in Europe). Our butt weld fittings DIN are made from high quality stainless steel and can be installed with other welded parts such as our stainless steel ball valve with butt weld ends, stainless steel welding neck flanges and stainless steel pipes.
When purchasing butt weld fittings several different aspects are important to be aware of prior to the order. First, it should always be known which type of material and dimension the fitting needs. Carbon steel butt weld fittings should not be welded with stainless steel butt weld fittings. Our most popular butt weld fittings are made from 1.4404/316L stainless steel. Second, it is important to consider the necessary standard. Mainly there are two types of butt weld fittings standards which are DIN (European) and ASTM/ASME (United States of America). For the DIN standard the size of the outer dimension is given as the first number, while the second number indicates the wall thickness. As an example, the “stainless steel butt weld elbow DIN2605-1 33.7 x 2.6”, will have an outer size of 33.7 mm and a wall thickness of 2.6 mm. Furthermore, the standard is indicated as being DIN2605-1. In the United States and United Kingdom usually butt weld fitting dimensions are indicated differently. The dimension of the fitting is given in inches while the wall thickness is given as a schedule. The 4 main schedules used are SCH10s, SCH40s, SCH80s, and SCH160s. The larger the schedule number the thicker the wall thickness. For example: a “90 degree long radius butt weld elbow Schedule 40, 1 “has an outer dimension (O.D.) of 1.315 inches, an inner dimension (I.D.) of 1.049 inches, and therefore a wall thickness of 0.109 inches. The larger the schedule, the thicker the wall thickness and the higher pressure the fitting can withstand. Most of the butt weld fittings offered are from welded pipe, however there are also fittings from seamless pipe. The butt weld fittings from stainless steel seamless pipe have the advantage of less risk exposure of weld yields and porosities.
There are three main fitting categories within the butt weld fittings (elbows, tees, reducers). Elbows are usually differentiated by the degree they are bent (45°, 90°, 180°) and if they have a short radius (SR) or long radius (LR). Additionally, there are also elbows in version 3R and 3D which have the centerline radius of three times the nominal diameter. Butt weld reducers are usually either eccentric or concentric. Eccentric reducers have the butt weld ends on the side, while concentric reducers are perfectly symmetric. Butt weld tees are usually delivered in a long neck version (long butt weld tee) or with reduced length (short butt weld tee).
Swiss Fittings is your reliable supplier when it comes to high quality butt weld fittings in stainless steel and carbon steel. We supply the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, France, Switzerland, United States of America (USA), and many more countries around the globe. Also OEM products, such as stainless steel manifolds, can be delivered directly from our production. Prices of butt weld fittings fluctuate heavily on the open market but we however, at Swiss Fittings try our best to keep our offered butt weld fittings prices steady.
